Spring Trend: Stylish booties

I know it may not feel like it in some parts of the world, but in California, the sun is shining and the days are warming up; it may only be February but I can not help but start to get excited for the warmer Spring and Summer days ahead. The Groundhog announced last week that we will have an "early Spring" and for a second, I will admit, I wanted to be sad that Winter was on its way out, but I got over that real quick. There is nothing better than the sun shining down on you, the sun setting at a normal (in my book) time, fresh blooms, and especially not having to put on five layers in the morning, only to take them all off in the afternoon and put that back on in the evening, because yes, even in California it is cold in the morning and evening.

I have been doing my research and followed Spring 2016 Fashion Week last summer and started taking notes on what types of items to look for this Spring, and have noticed stores are already releasing so many items that are on those lists. Since I have been monitoring the trends, I wanted to share some helpful tips on what to look for in accessory pieces on one of my favorite items for the season, booties. I checked out some of the key things to look for when shopping to update your shoe wardrobe and the main thing I have noticed is that the "it" factor is in the detail. Whether it be a cut out, weave, tassel, or metal pieces, the hottest and most on-trend styles this season are all about how unique and detailed the shoe is.

I wanted to really snap the details of a few of my favorite booties with you. I have been working on some mini projects around our house, and one of my most recent you may have caught that I shared on Snapchat (follow along - theSCMovement) is my new accessory closet. I pulled out some of my favorite pieces from bags to shoes and jewels and just love seeing right up front all of my favorites every morning, nothing like a fashion lover's dream but to wake up to the sight of beauties, always so inspiring. I have always been a sucker for detail when it comes to shoes and about 90% of my shoes have some sort of big, or small, detail which made me fall in love with it. Between my top three favorites, I definitely chose them each for their slashes, lace ups, and braided/weaved detail. I love that although they are booties, they are totally acceptable in the Spring and Summer because of their nude/brown tones and their peep-toe and open back... but what I love most is that even though they have these details, what is proven when you invest in a good pair of shoes is that you can wear them year after year.

One of these boots I purchased over three years ago, one pair was purchased two years ago, and the third recently. Not only do I love that they have kept up on the surface, but I love that they have kept up with fashion and whats on trend over the last couple of years as well, that is when you know you have made a great investment.

This season if you are looking for some new items to spruce up your Spring wardrobe, I always feel like shoes is the best place to start. You get more wear out of them than anything else in your closet, they have the ability to take any clothing garment and make it current, and if you invest well, it is something you can take with you year after year.

Remember these 3 things when shopping for Spring booties:

1. Details - cut outs, lace up, metals, etc.
2. Colors - nude, brown, black, grey
3. Heel height - chunky heels, not too high so you can wear them day to night
