What I Love Wednesday: Makeup 101

I really hope you are all enjoying my new Wednesday series, I have tried my best to find my most prized possessions, both beauty and baby, and share them with you as well as give you an honest review and information for each item.

I get asked pretty frequently about what kind of makeup I wear, and I even often find myself asking other girls the same question. It seems like when you are a girl, the search to find the right makeup for you and your skin type can seem pretty endless.

I will admit that I tend to be a bit of a makeup hopper in the past because my skin tends to be pretty sensitive and changes from one day to the next between being extra oily or dry. I don't know if that is normal, but that just happens to be how my skin operates, super frustrating!

About a year ago, I was introduced to Chanel makeup by a makeup artist at Nordstrom. She was doing my makeup trial for my baby shower, and she had asked me if I had ever tried Chanel makeup before. I never had because I had been told in the past by a friend that it was super light and didn't provide good coverage and sustainability, since then, I had just kind of put their line out of my head. Well, my makeup artist informed at that minute that while that may have once been true years ago, that it was no longer the case, and that Chanel had become one of the leading makeup brands and her personal favorite to use for all skin types. I was super impressed and excited to find this out and started trying it out immediately, and her review couldn't be more true!

I have been using Chanel since the day of my makeup trial a little over a year ago, and I couldn't be more delighted with the results. The Chanel long-wear powder has got to be my favorite powder, I was a loyal Makeup Forever girl prior to using Chanel, and I haven't gone back to their brand once. I love the coverage of the powder and love that even if I wear it without foundation it provides a great coverage.

Chanel foundation has literally changed my entire makeup look. For a while I was only using the Chanel Smooth-effect foundation during the day because it tends to be a little lighter in the coverage. I still always felt great using it because I feel like on weekdays I like a more natural look, but I will admit that I had been hopping around different brands for nights out or photo shoots. I still was never quite impressed with any other brand I had been using over the last few months, and recently when I tried the Chanel Long-wear Flawless foundation, believe me when I say this - it was life changing!! I could not be more happy with this foundation!! For the first time I feel confident in it, I have cut touch ups in half, and even when I wear it for a long period of time, my skin doesn't feel dirty and my pores don't feel clogged. It is a must have in your beauty bag. It is great because it is a light coverage that you can wear during the day, but it super easy and build able for a more glam, night out on the town look.

Concealer is something I have never really had to think about in the past because I had been pretty blessed with restful nights of sleep; well, clearly that has changed over the last year (in the best way possible, of course). I am now a concealer connoisseur, and my newest go-to is NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. It doesn't crease and stays on all day and night and doesn't look caky or discolored, I absolutely love it!

Keep in mind that although some of these lines seem a little pricey, they are well worth the investment. Your skin is the most unforgiving part of your body, and I am a firm believer that if you treat it right, it will do the same to you in your older age. Always go with good quality makeup that won't cause any extra unnecessary damage. Also, these cases really do last a very long time. Over the last year I have replaced my compact once, and the same with my foundation, talk about long-lasting!!

With love,
