So Couture

It is my belief that in fashion there are three different categories:

1. Trend

2. Style

3. Couture

Trends are those pieces of clothing that are so 'now.' If its popular and hip, if it's on a celeb, if its in a magazine and everywhere you look, its 'on trend.' They are the pieces where 30 years down the road you will look back at photos and giggle and seeing these pieces of clothing alone will take you back to a time once before. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this category of fashion and without it how would we ever differentiate fashion decade to decade?

Style. The word alone is simple and straight to the point. You either have it or you don't, and if you don't, there is nothing wrong with that, hence the reasons for trends (see above). Style is what you are born with, it is who you are and how you speak through your clothes. You can not teach style, you own it. Style is unwavering, constant, and will never grow old.

Couture... I just do not even feel right typing that word out without at least italics. Couture is art. It is movement, and beauty, and a true craftsmanship displayed through clothing that makes you feel emotion and gives you feeling.

Couture is the highest of the fashion categories.

"Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It's movement, design, and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we'd like to be."
