Menswear Inspired

Dear California Sunshine,

Where have you been? Please return soon, this family is ready for some beach days!

Thank you.

Is anyone else with me, where has our sun been these last few weeks? As a Californian I know we all get so spoiled with warm days while the rest of the country is in winter storms and so the last thing I should do is complain about a little clouds in the sky, but this also leaves this California girl with not a ton of options to choose from for the cooler days. I admit, I buy jackets and sweaters based on how cute they are and rain boots because they are fun, but I never actually plan on using these items for proper use or to keep warm! I mean, surely I can't be the only one?

So what does that mean for me... I get to be cold on cloudy days with a really cute sweater on.

One trend I feel I will never tire of is menswear inspired pieces for women. I love a good boy jean, oversized tee and especially a great pair of menswear inspired shoes, particularly loafers. I appreciate a good preppy look and could have once labeled my entire style as entirely preppy back in the day, although now I like to mix it up a bit. I love a great flat shoe as much as a love a designer heel and these loafers have been a personal favorite for a few years. I admit that the reason I originally bought these tasseled loafers was because they reminded me of a shoe Scott Disick would wear, and let me be completely honest when I say I love a Lord. When I purchased these loafers I never realized how often I would wear them and especially didn't realize what a timeless purchase I was making. These shoes are great in the Spring and Summer with casual wear to dress up your pieces a bit or with a nice dress or skirt to make it not too 'girly.'

Don't you just love when you can carry pieces over from year to year? My overall goal when purchasing items is to invest in pieces as timeless as possible. Sometimes I will buy on a whim and still be wearing the item 5 years later, and sometimes I do my research and really pick some pieces I know will last a long time. My hope to is always inspire a nice timeless look for others but still keep it current and on trend... my recommendation for this? Always invest in great accessories!

With love,
Amanda
